D3fotball.com has released its top 25 poll following the fourth week of competition in the 2012 season. Two Empire 8 teams are ranked in the top 10 and three more are receiving votes.

The Sea Gulls moved up to No. 7 and the Cardinals moved up one spot to No. 9. Buffalo State dropped out of the top 25 but are joined by Ithaca and Alfred in the other receiving votes category.

Salisbury (2-1) received 451 points in the poll after a bye week. The Gulls start conference play at Buffalo State on Saturday at noon.

Fisher (4-0) jumped out to a 30-0 after two quarters and cruised to a 43-13 win over previously-undefeated Hartwick College on Saturday. It is the fifth time since 2004 that the Cardinals have won their first four games.

Fisher is idle next week.  The Cardinals will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th when they host No. 8 Salisbury University in a pivotal Empire 8 showdown.  Both Fisher and Salisbury advanced to the national quarterfinals last year.

The Ithaca College football team (3-0) opened Empire 8 play with a 40-21 rout of host Frostburg State (2-2) Saturday. The Bombers' 40 points were their highest total in 30 games. Ithaca continues Empire 8 play next Saturday, hosting the Utica Pioneers in a 1 p.m. game.

The Saxons (2-1) piled up 401 rushing yards in a 40-17 victory over Buffalo State (2-2). Alfred limited the Bengals to 364 offensive yards, forced three turnovers and held them to 10 points below their scoring average. Alfred is off next weekend and returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at home against Ithaca.

The top six teams in the poll remained unchanged from the previous week, led by the University of Mount Union (23) at the No. 1 spot with 623 points.
