Daza and Dougherty Named Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Senior Victor Daza (North Plainfield, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team (6-2) was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week after scoring seven points in the Ducks’ 2-0 week, which included an upset win over No. 18 Swarthmore College.
Daza scored game-tying goal late in the first half against No. 18 Swarthmore on a penalty kick. Stevens would go on to win the match 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Quinn Conner (Newfields, N.H.).
On Saturday, Daza scored twice and added an assist to lead the Ducks past Empire 8 rival Alfred University in a 5-0 game. The North Plainfield native scored the third goal, assisted on the fourth and then banged home the final score of the day for the Ducks.
Stevens will play again on Wednesday when the team hosts Polytechnic Institute of New York University at 7 p.m. on the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
