Buffalo State rookie receiver Ryan Carney (Olean/Olean) was named to the D3Football.com National Team of the Week after helping the Bengals to a 49-31 opening day victory over visiting Cortland on Saturday.

Carney showed no signs of rust, playing in his first football game since suiting up for Olean High School in 2009, after spending the past two years playing basketball for Jamestown Community College.  The wide out reeled in 12 catches for 242 yards, including a pair of touchdown strikes covering 4 and 49 yards.  Carney helped Buffalo State set a new school record with 706 yards of total offense.

Carney and the Bengals will be back in action this Saturday in the I-90 Bowl at rival Brockport at 1 p.m.
