Burgher and Strom Grab Initial E8 Volleyball Player of the Week Awards
Houghton's Lindsey Burgher and Hartwick's Hannah Strom have been named the Empire 8 Conference Volleyball Player and Rookie of the Week.
Burgher was named to the all-tournament team at the Oneonta Invitational as the Highlanders opened the season by splitting four matches. She had 38 kills, 14 digs and 25 blocks in the four matches. Burgher totaled 15 kills and eight blocks in the 3-1 win over St. Lawrence and added 10 blocks in the 3-0 sweep of Potsdam.
Strom had a big game for the Hawks as she picked up a double-double (14 kills, 15 digs) in Hartwick's 3-1 victory over SUNYIT on Saturday at the Oneonta State Invitational. She also led the team with 10 kills against Plattsburgh on Friday. Strom finished her rookie weekend debut with 34 kills in four matches to go along with 28 digs and four aces.
