Foglia, Dumas Take Empire 8 Weekly Awards

Hartwick junior guard Maria Foglia (Rensselaer, NY/Catholic Central) and freshman forward Brittney Dumas (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow HS) earned the Empire 8 Conference's final weekly honors of 2012. Foglia was tabbed the E8's Player of the Week while Dumas was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Week for their efforts at the 2012 Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale.
           
Foglia earns the award for the second time in the last three selection periods. She also was recognized on December 10.
           
She averaged 19 points per game for Hartwick in the Hawks' last two contests. She shot 48% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 83% from the free-throw line in the two games.
           
In a 61-49 victory over Randolph-Macon, Foglia scored a season- and game-high 25 points. She made 7-of-11 of her shots from the floor, 3-of-4 from three-point range, and connected on all eight shots from the line to go along with four steals.
           
Two days later in a 56-50 setback to Mary Washington, she scored 13 points with a trio of three-pointers. She also dished out four assists and picked up two steals.
           
Foglia leads Hartwick in scoring and assists this season. She is second on the team in three-pointers and steals.
           
Dumas has now been named the conference's top rookie twice in the month of December. She also received the honor on December 3.
           
She averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 50% from the floor for the Hawks in Florida.
           
Dumas opened play with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds versus Randolph-Macon. In the contest, she shot 7-of-11 from the floor, made her only three-point attempt, and both free-throw attempts. She also had two steals, one block, and one assist.
           
Two days later, she scored eight points and contributed a career-high four steals with three boards in against Mary Washington.
           
Dumas leads her team in field-goal percentage and blocks, is second in rebounding, and is third in scoring this season.
