Warech and Lott Net Empire 8 Men's Basketball Weekly Honors
Ithaca senior Travis Warech and St. John Fisher freshman guard Chaz Lott were named the Empire 8 Conference Men’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, for the week of Jan 14-20.
Warech paced the Bobmers to a 2-1 road week averaging 22.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He scored a career- and game-high 28 points in the Bombers' 90-87 victory at St. John Fisher on Friday, before hitting game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds, also a career-high, in the Bombers' 74-64 victory at Alfred on Saturday. He had 13 points against Elmira on Tuesday night. For the week, Warech totaled five assists, four blocks and four steals, while committing just four turnovers.
The Bombers return to action Friday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. hosting Stevens Institute of Technology in Ben Light Gymnasium.
Lott averaged 13.5 points and five rebounds in two games for Fisher. On Tuesday night, the point guard finished with seven points and seven rebounds against visiting Nazareth College. On Friday, Lott tallied a career-high 20 points against Ithaca College. Half of his points came in the final 3:24 of play.
This is the fourth time in seven weeks that Lott has been honored as the league's top newcomer. He is currently averaging 9.2 points per game, while ranking second in the Conference in steals (32) and third in assists (72).
The men's basketball team will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Alfred University.
