Fisher's Jason Norsen Joins 1,000 Point Club to Highlight Friday Night

St. John Fisher 79, Utica 69
The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball program overcame a 17-point deficit late in the first half and rallied to earn a 79-69 win over visiting Utica College on Friday night at Fisher’s Bobby Wanzer Court.

With the win, Fisher moves to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Utica falls to 7-12, 4-5.

Senior Jason Norsen became the 20th player in Fisher history to score 1,000 points in a career.   The Capital One Academic All-American scored 19 points, bringing his career total to 1,008.  Norsen, who is already Fisher’s all-time leader in blocked shots, added seven rejections and eight boards in the win.

Ithaca 80, Stevens 69
The Ithaca College men's basketball team (12-4, 7-1 Empire 8) silenced 20th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology (14-3, 5-2 Empire 8), 80-69, on Friday evening at Ben Light Gymnasium.

The Bombers, who have won nine of their last 10 games, closed out the first half with 12 unanswered to secure a permanent lead. Ithaca put away the first three buckets of the second for the first double-digit lead of the game. Despite trailing 63-49 at 7:45, the Ducks pieced together a 9-2 run to pull within six at the two-minute mark, but the Bombers outlasted Stevens, improving their all-time series record over the Ducks to 8-3, 5-1 at home.

Elmira 88, Hartwick 62
Four players scored in double figures as the Men's Basketball team downed visiting Hartwick, 88-62, Friday evening in Speidel Gymnasium. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 5-13 overall and 2-5 in Empire 8 play, while the loss drops the Hawks to 11-7 and 3-4.

The 88 points scored in tonight's contest mark the most in a single game in EC history in the last 10 years. The last time Elmira scored more than 88 points was when it occurred twice during the 2002-03 season.

Alfred 80, Nazareth 76
The Alfred University men’s basketball team bounced back from Fisher to down Nazareth College in an Empire 8 matchup, 80-76, on the road, Friday evening.  

For the game, AU shot and impressive 67 percent (over Nazareth’s 39 percent) from beyond the arc which proved to give them the edge down the stretch.  Alfred also shot 55 percent from the field and 53 percent from the free-throw line.
