Fisher, Ithaca, Stevens and Utica Down Competition on Saturday

Utica 86, Alfred 74
The Utica College men’s basketball team defeated Alfred University, 86-74, Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 Conference play.  The Pioneers were led by junior forward Connor Maisch who netted a double-double with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds.

The Saxons were led by Gerald Colas who scored a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds.

UC improves to 8-12 overall while moving to 5-5 in league play, while the Saxons drop to 5-14 on the season while 2-8 in E8 play.

Ithaca 75, Hartwick 54
The Ithaca College men's basketball team cruised to a 75-54 win over visiting Hartwick on Saturday afternoon at Ben Light Gymnasium behind 52 percent shooting from the field and a 41-28 rebounding advantage. Four Bombers scored in double figures and Ithaca maintained its hold on first place in the Empire 8. Ithaca is 13-4 on the season and 8-1 in the league. Hartwick fell to 11-8 overall, 3-5 in the Empire 8.

Stevens 64, Elmira 48
The 20th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team improved to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in the Empire 8 with a 64-48 win at Elmira College Saturday evening. The Ducks were led by 15 first-half points from freshman guard Evan Klimchak and a game-high 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting from senior guard Sheldon Jones.

St. John Fisher 71, Houghton 49
The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team took down Houghton College 71-49  on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Fisher improves to 12-8 on the year and Houghton falls to 0-18. 

Justin Plata paced Fisher on the day, finishing with a team-high 18 points and four steals. Thad Wier also came away with four steals to go along with 13 points.
