Ithaca Women Claim Indoor Track and Field Title

The Ithaca College women's track & field team secured its sixth consecutive Empire 8 Indoor Track & Field Championship title scoring 199 points on Saturday at Glazer Arena. The Bombers have won the crown nine of the 10 times it has been contested.

The Bombers won six of the meets' 15 events. Thirteen individuals and one relay team tallied All-Empire 8 selections during the victory. Ithaca hit seven ECAC qualifiers during the meet.

Ithaca sophomore Harmony Graves was named Outstanding Women's Track Athlete of the Meet after setting a meet record in the 60-meter dash with a first-place finish of 7.89 and placing second in the 200 dash with a 26.92 finish. Her 60 sprint time met the ECAC qualifier.

Stevens Institute of Technology senior Alina Duran was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Meet with two first place finishes in the shot put and weight throw.  Duran set a facility record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.18 meters to place first overall and then topped the field in the shot put with a mark of 12.04 meters. She blew away the field in the weight throw, besting each competitor by three meters. Duran is now a four time indoor champion in the shot put and a two time champion in the weight throw.
