The Buffalo Bills have elevated St. John Fisher College alumnus and Athletics Hall of Famer Russ Brandon to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. Brandon was "passed the torch," by Bills owner Ralph Wilson, Jr., who informed the 16-year veteran of the organization in a personal meeting in Detroit on Monday, December 31.
In a press conference at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Brandon rang in the New Year with an announcement of his promotion and the retention of general manager Buddy Nix. During the meeting with the media, Brandon talked of his regional beginnings from East Syracuse to his time at St. John Fisher College. He mentioned current Fisher athletic director Bob Ward in helping with his development through the years.
A 2004 inductee to the College’s Athletics Hall of Fame, Brandon was a four-year starter for the St. John Fisher College baseball team. He finished his career with a .367 batting average and ranks as the club baseball program’s all-time leader in defensive assists. In his final two seasons, Brandon served as a team captain and led the Cardinals in doubles and stolen bases both years. The middle-infielder/pitcher also led Fisher in 1988 with a .378 batting average.
He was also a four-year letter winner in football at Fisher.
Russ graduated from Fisher with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Management.
