Maisch's 3-Point Shooting Has Caught the National Eye
Utica, NY (1-29-13) – Junior Connor Maisch, of the Utica College men’s basketball team, is among the nation’s leaders in three-point shooting. Maisch is currently second in the country in three-point percentage, shooting an impressive 51.6% from behind the arc.
In 20 games this season, the 6-foot-5 forward has converted 66-of-128 from downtown, good enough for an average of 3.30 per game and seventh in the nation. The Kingston, NY native currently leads the Empire 8 Conference (through ten conference games) in three-pointers (32) and percentage (53.3%) as well as scoring (19 pp/g), points (171) and field goals (58). He is also in the top 10 in all other major categories including second in free throw percentage (92%), fifth in defensive rebounds (52) and field goal percentage (53.7%) and sixth in minutes per game (34.6).
The first year Pioneer has tallied eight 20+ performances while leading the squad to a 6-2 record in those games. On Jan. 12th, he posted a season-best 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, while grabbing eight boards.
The Pioneers are currently 8-12 overall including a 5-5 mark in the competitive Empire 8 Conference. UC returns to action Friday as it heads to Hoboken, NJ for an Empire 8 contest against Stevens Institute of Technology. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Canavan Arena.
