Stevens 2, Eastern University 1 (Box Score)
For the first time this season, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team owns a .500 record after a 2-1 victory on the road at Eastern University on Tuesday afternoon. Stevens is now 5-5 and has won five of its last seven matches.

The Ducks went up, 1-0, in the 38th on an own goal by the Eagles. Sophomore Evelyn Ting was a difference maker for Stevens in goal with a career-high 10 saves over 90 minutes of play. Ting made seven of her saves in the second half.

Junior Mariah Cleveland gave Stevens a 2-0 advantage with her third goal of the season in the 56th minute off a pass from senior Lauren Hammerle. Hammerle took the ball down the right side and sent a pass into the box where Cleveland was waiting to send her shot over the Eastern goalkeeper's head.

Eastern attempted a comeback with its only tally of the match just 6:41 later but could not notch an equalizer for the rest of regulation. The Eagles' best opportunity to even the score came in a four-minute span just seven minutes after their first goal. Eastern took four shots in that time with three of them saved by Ting and another blocked.

Eastern also earned six corners in the second half for a total of seven in the match, while Stevens did not attempt one.

Rochester 1, Nazareth 0 (Box Score)
Host Rochester edged Nazareth 1-0 in a non-conference women's soccer game on Tuesday evening. Senior Bethany Novak had four saves for the Golden Flyers. Classmate Olivia Derleth finished with a team-high four total shots, including two shots on goal to lead Nazareth's offense.

With the loss, the Golden Flyers drop to 5-3-2 overall. With the victory, the Yellowjackets improve to 5-3-1 overall.

Rochester's Jessica Smith scored the game's only goal at the 58:06 mark to break the scoreless tie. Smith leads Rochester with nine goals. Smith's goal was set up by Lee Stagg. Smith's goal was a 12-yard shot that found the bottom right corner of the goal.

Toward the end of regulation, Nazareth seemed to take momentum as the Golden Flyers tallied the last four shots of the game. In the 78th minute, Derleth's shot slid through the fingers Rochester's goalkeeper, Aubrey Jacks, and hit the underside of the crossbar, but never crossed the goal line. Jacks kept Nazareth off the scoresheet in the final four minutes by saving another shot by Derleth and an attempt by junior Kaitlin Sowyrda. With about seven minutes to play in regulation, junior Tori Ryan's shot was off the mark.

Junior Ashtin Argentieri and freshman Michaela Soules each had shots in the opening 13 minutes of the second stanza before Smith scored.

In the first half, Smith nearly scored off a corner kick in the opening minute, but the Golden Flyers received help from the post. Nazareth's defense held Rochester to only three first-half shots. The Golden Flyers' best opportunity in the opening 45 minutes was about 15 minutes into regulation when freshman Elisa Marchione's 20-yard shot was blocked by a defender.

Nazareth finished with a 13-10 advantage in total shots, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Rochester held a 2-1 edge in corner kick opportunities. Jacks made six saves to earn the shutout, which was the first of her career.

Fredonia 5, Elmira 0 (Box Score)
The Elmria College women's soccer team could not muster up much offense as they were shutout 5-0 by Fredonia State on the road Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 3-5-1 on the year while the win improves the Blue Devils to 2-5-2. Amanda Banner faced pressure all day as Fredonia outshot EC 19-7. Banner made eight saves in the losing effort.

Fredonia State got on the scoreboard first as Kristie Kleine scored the first of her two first half goals five minutes into the game. The Blue Devils would add two additional goals on top of Kleine's pair and take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was much improved for the Soaring Eagles as they settled down and adjusted to the speed of the game, but it was too little, too late for the Purple and Gold. They were able hold the Blue Devils to one goal in the second half, but they could not produce any offense themselves as they came up empty on their three corner kicks and their three shots in the final 45 minutes.
