Four Empire 8 student-athletes have been recognized as Corvias ECAC Athletes of the Week for their performance during the week of Sept 30- Oct 6.

Division III Upstate Women's Cross Country

Amy Regan – Stevens Institute of Technology

Sophomore, Green Brook, NJ

Regan placed ninth overall and first among NCAA Division III runners with a time of 21:42 on the 6K course at the Paul Short Invite. In all, 484 runners took part in the Open section and Regan finished over one minute faster than the next closest DIII participant. Regan broke the Stevens school record for 6K with her time of 21:42. Last year, her best time was 22:07 at NCAA DIII Cross Country Nationals where she placed 40th. She still remains unbeaten by DIII runners in head-to-head competition.



Division III – Metro/Upstate Volleyball

Samantha Gates – Stevens Institute of Technology

Senior, Setter, Wilmington, NC

Samantha Gates led Stevens to a perfect 4-0 conference weekend at Elmira with wins over the Soaring Eagles, Nazareth, St. John Fisher and Alfred. Gates handed out a total of 131 assists with 46 coming against Fisher and 42 more against Nazareth. She dished out 31 more in a sweep of Elmira. Stevens clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship on Nov. 9-10.

Defensive Player of the Week

Seiji Hinton – Alfred University

Senior, Defensive Back, Freeport, NY

Seiji Hinton had 10 tackles (three for loss, 17 yards; one sack, 11 yards), a forced fumble and an interception in the Saxons' double-overtime win against visiting Buffalo State.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Ryan Kramer – St. John Fisher College

Senior, Running Back, Oneida, NY

Kramer totaled 293 all-purposes yards, including a Fisher-record 187 on five kickoff returns, in the 38-35 win over Frostburg.  Fisher enjoyed great field position throughout the day with five of its six touchdown-drives starting inside Bobcat territory.
