Elmira College 3, Cazenovia College 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23)
The Soaring Eagles turned to a familiar player to guide them in the first match of the night as Taryn Rumsey made a game high 17 kills to pace the Purple and Gold to a 3-0 victory.  EC's primary setter, Sami Hanes, did what she's been doing all year as she made assist after assist, totaling 35 on the night.  Defensively, Catherine Miller and Amanda Blinkinsop combined to make 23 digs. 

Elmira College 3, New Jersey City University 0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-12)
In Elmira's second match of the day, EC used 10 kills by Ashley Heiman to lead the Soaring Eagles to their 15th win of the 2013 season. Also contributing on the offensive side today was Alicia Day, who, made nine kills to go along with two block assists.  Similar to the first match, Sami Hanes guided the EC offense with 26 assists.


Ithaca 3, Utica 1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-11, 25-21)
Ithaca College snagged a 3-1 conference victory from visiting Utica Friday night on day one of the 2013 Ithaca Tournament in Ben Light Gymnasium. 

Three Bombers tallied double-digit kills to help Ithaca to a .217 hitting percentage against the Pioneers. Freshman Shaelynn Schmidt put down 15 kills, while classmate Breanne Tuohy and 11. In three sets of play, rookie Molly Brown set for 30 assists. Junior Abbie Hutchinson served up four aces. Grace Chang led defensive efforts with 15 digs. Sophomore Dylan Gawinski Stern dug out 10 times. Hutchinson blocked for five of the Bombers' 15.

Chelsea LauriaBrandi Blaszak, and Cassandra Manzer each had nine kills to lead Utica.  Lora Allen had a team-high 20 assists, and Briona Enny also led the squad with 20 digs.  

Ithaca 3, Medaille 2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 15-6)
The Bombers outlastedMedaille, 3-2 in their second match of the evening.

Shaelynn Schmidt fell one kill shy of a personal-best, putting down 19 to lead the Bombers against Medaille. Grace Chang, Abbie Hutchinson and Syline Kim added seven apiece in the five-setter. Brown recorded 39 assists. Kim dug a career-best 25 balls and Chang chipped in 15. Breanne Tuohy matched a season-high five blocks.

Nazareth 3, New Jersey City 0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-12)
Nazareth swept New Jersey City University in three sets by scores of 25-7, 25-11, 25-12. 

Junior Olivia Harrigan had seven kills in 10 swings against NJCU and freshman Brianna Spears had 10 assists. Juniors Maria Allocco and Chelsea Beecher each had four service aces.


Nazareth 3, MCLA 0 (25-18, 25-12, 15-18)
The Golden Flyers also dominated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in three sets 25-18, 25-12, 25-18.

Oliva Harrigan had 12 kills and sophomore Jennifer Hicks had nine kills in 14 attempts. Thayer amassed 17 assists.

Messiah 3, Utica 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-9)
The Utica College volleyball team fell to Messiah College 3-0 in the night cap.

Cassi Brancato had four killes, followed by Laura Homer-Gunther, Blaszak, and Ashley Jones, who each had three kills.  Lonczak had a team-high six assists, while Lora Allen had three assists and three digs.
