Marguerite Chavez converted a penalty stroke 4:02 into overtime to lift the Stevens Institute of Technology to a wild 4-3 win over Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College on Senior Day at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
Chavez needed three points to break Stevens' all-time points record and got them, assisting on the Ducks' first score of the game and getting two more via the game-winning-goal. She now has 130 for her career, one more than former record holder
Kara Borzillo.
The Ducks dominated possession, field position and the stat sheet despite needing overtime to win. They ended with a 17-7 edge in corners and a 31-6 margin in shots.
Stevens has a firm grasp on the top spot in the conference standings, holding tiebreakers over second, third and fourth place with one E8 game to go against Elmira College October 26.

The Utica College field hockey team improved to 4-1 in Empire 8 Conference play as the Pioneers topped host Hartwick College 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers, 10-3 overall, have now secured 10 or more victories in a single season for the seventh time in program-history. Junior
Hannah Mackey netted two goals and became the third player in program-history (second this season) to score over 100 points in a career. Mackey now has 102 career points, joining classmate
Louise Steele-Norton and 2005 graduate Shannon Rohacek in the 100 point club.

Kells Casey secured her fifth shutout of the season (third in conference play) and the Pioneers have now outscored their conference opponents 22-5 through five conference contests.

The Elmira College field hockey team (3-3, 1-4 E8) earned its first Empire 8 conference win of the season defeating Washington & Jefferson College (8-5, 1-3 E8) in a thrilling 2-1 overtime contest.
McKenna Light '14 scored the overtime goal to give the Soaring Eagles the victory while
Lauren Thomas '14 stopped a season high 17 shots in today's action.

Katie Lass started the contest, stopping 4-of-5 shots in just over 65 minutes of play. Sophomore
Blaire Janney played the remainder of the game, not allowing a goal in the final 4:46 of play.
The Highlanders scored first, netting a goal just 1:36 into the game to jump out to the early 1-0 lead. It didn't take long for the Bombers to respond, as Foose evened the contest in the eighth minute on her third goal of the season.
