Stevens Takes Third at Cyclone Invitational in Final Fall Tournament

ALLAMUCHY, N.J. (October 16, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology carded a third place finish at the 2013 Cyclone Classic hosted by Centenary College on Allamuchy, N.J. on Wednesday afternoon. Stevens' third place showing is the second best team outcome in the fall dating back to its opening tournament of the season in Clinton, N.Y.

The Ducks posted a team total of 324 (+40) and trailed only Farmingdale State College (316) and Marywood University (315) on the afternoon. Nine institutions competed on the par-71, 6,365-yard Panther Valley Golf & Country Club course. All five Ducks finished within the top 25 in the event that featured 47 golfers.

Junior Cameron Hill (Calgary, Alberta) fired a plus-five 76 to lead Stevens and finish tied for second overall. Hill recorded a 41 on the front nine and came in on his round with a 35 on the back.

Senior Richie Szeliga (South Plainfield, N.J.) notched an 80 to finish 11th overall, while junior Justin Niemeier (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) posted an 83 for 15th.

Senior Charlie Johnston (Robbinsville, N.J.) tied for 21st with an 85 and freshman Frank Szucs (Brookside, N.J.) finished a stroke behind with an 85 to tie for 24th.

Marywood's Dalton Dearforff took individual top honors with a plus-two, 73.

Stevens wraps up its fall season with four top-five finishes in six tournaments. The Ducks will resume play in March 2014.
