Ithaca 26, Utica 21
The Ithaca College football team had five takeaways, including four interceptions, and quarterback Tom Dempsey threw three touchdown passes in a 26-21 win at Utica on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. The Bombers are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8, while Utica is 3-3 and 1-2 in the conference. Ithaca stands in second place in the Empire 8 standings, one-half game behind 3-0 Salisbury.

Ithaca tight end Jared Prugar caught two touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score with 3:10 remaining in the fourth quarter. Prugar also scored on a 59-yard reception from Dempsey for the Bombers in the second quarter. That gave Ithaca a 20-14 lead with 3:19 remaining in the first half, and that was the halftime score.   FULL STORY


Alfred 49, Hartwick 28 (Box Score)
The Alfred University football team scored touchdowns on seven of its 12 drives and forced four turnovers en route to a 49-28 victory over visiting Hartwick College Saturday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium.

Alfred had 462 yards of offense (179 on the ground) and freshman quarterback Tyler Johnson  threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns as the Saxons improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 Conference play. With the loss, Hartwick falls to 4-2 (1-2 Empire 8).

AU jumped on Hartwick early, scoring a touchdown three plays after the Hawks fumbled at their own 35-
yard line three plays into their opening possession. Senior tailback Austin Dwyer did all the work on the drive: after an incomplete pass he ran for 17-yards on second down, then ran the ball in from 18 yards out to give the Saxons the early 7-0 lead just a minute into the contest.  FULL STORY 


Salisbury 42, St. John FIsher 35

The Salisbury University football team prevailed in a showdown of the final two conference unbeatens within the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, holding off St. John Fisher College for a 42-35 victory on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

Salisbury (4-2, 3-0 Empire 8) posted season highs in rushing yards, total yards, touchdown rushes and – most importantly – points, needing all 42 to come away with the victory, remaining in position at the top of the Empire 8 standings.

Junior quarterback Joey Jones paced the Salisbury offense, rushing for 78 yards, on a career-high 28 carries and a career-best four rushing touchdowns while junior slot Desmond Sivels ran for a game-best 89 yards. The Salisbury defense was led by sophomore linebacker Nick Anzallo's eight tackles, while senior Andre Carter took second place on the all-time Salisbury interception list with the 14th of his career. Buffalo State 60, Frostburg 28 
Casey Kacz tied a school record with five touchdown passes and ran for two more as Buffalo State (3-4/1-3) blasted visiting Frostburg State (1-5/0-3), 60-28, in an Empire 8 game today at a rainy Coyer Field.


Kacz finished 21 of 30 for 203 yards and rushed for 43 yards on six carries. Caesarae Lewis led the Bengals receiving corps with eight catches for 86 yards and also equaled a school mark with three touchdown grabs. Rich Pete paced the ground game with 83 yards on 11 carries, and freshman Trey Jones added 82 yards and a score on eight fourth-quarter carries.

Teron Tyre and Nick Rosati shared the quarterback responsibilities for the Bobcats. Tyre was 15 of 32 for 238 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, and Rosati finished 5 of 13 for 62 yards with a pick and a score. Antonio Wood hauled in six catches for 133 yards with two scores, and Haydan Roberts also had six grabs for 103 yards.

Buffalo State forced three first-half turnovers that set up three touchdown drives and the Bengals took a 29-14 lead into halftime.  FULL STORY
