ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology 5-1 on Saturday morning in an Empire 8 tournament semifinal match at the Wheeler Tennis Courts. The victory sends the Bombers to Sunday's championship match, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Elmira and Nazareth. The Bombers are 9-0 on the season and Stevens fell to 8-3.

Ithaca swept the three doubles matches, including an 8-6 win at first doubles by Cristina Nunez and over the Stevens duo of Jessica Bourque and Lisa Tessitore. It was the first loss of the season to an Empire 8 opponent by Bourque and Tessitore, who won the ITA Northeast Region doubles championship in September.

Ithaca also claimed doubles victories by Alyssa Steinweis and Allison Vizgaitis at third doubles and Marni Blumenthal and Haley Kusak at second doubles.

Stevens earned its point by injury default at first singles, then Ithaca clinched the victory with singles wins by Siegel and Blumenthal.
