WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 2, 2013) – The No. 8/10 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team earned its second-straight victory Wednesday night, downing Wilkes University 2-1 to improve to 7-1-1 on the season.

Stevens dominated the Colonels early, putting a number of early shots on goal and taking a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when sophomore Carson Pryor tallied for the fifth time this season via an assist from senior forward Stephen Dunbar.  It was the duos third hook up in the past two games with Pryor's playmaking ability accounting for a pair of Dunbar goals Saturday at Alfred.

Despite dominating play, possession and field position, the Ducks allowed Wilkes (7-4) to make the most of its lone first-half scoring opportunity, getting an equalizer from junior forward Eric McAnena with just 6:53 left before the break.

Stevens ended the opening stanza with a 13-1 edge in shots and a 3-2 margin in corners but the scoreboard showed a tie game.

The Ducks applied pressure in the early moments of the second half, breaking the tie with the game-winner at 53:55 on a score from senior midfielder Curtis Stecyk. It was the first goal and game-winner of the year for the veteran who already has a team-high three assists this season. The play saw a scramble in the box, and Stecyk was there to take advantage of the scoring opportunity.

Stevens continued to apply the pressure deep in the Wilkes zone through the rest of the match as the Colonels only took one second-half shot and ended the game with two. The Ducks also finished with a 10-1 edge in corners.

Senior goalkeeper Paul Killian earned the win for the Ducks in goal and is also now 7-1-1. Senior Dave Marr made six saves in the loss for Wilkes.

Stevens will return to Empire 8 play Saturday as part of Homecoming 2013 when it hosts Nazareth College at 12 p.m. All the action will be webcast live from the De Baun Athletic Complex on www.Empire8.TV.
