Oswego 9, Utica 0 Box Score

Utica, NY (10-2-13) – The Utica College women's tennis team was shut out, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon to visiting non-conference rival Oswego State at the Utica College Tennis Courts. The Pioneers were guided by senior Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) and freshman Erin Burchill (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills) who combined for 10-of-17 UC points.

Zaloom and Burchill partnered in doubles action only to fall short 9-7.  The duo battled Oswego's No. 1and No. 2 in singles competition as Zaloom lost 6-1 and 6-3 and Burchill fell 7-5 and 6-1.

Utica is still in search of its first win of 2013 dropping to 0-9 overall on the season.  UC remains on the grind as it welcomes Empire 8 rivals St. John Fisher College and Alfred University for back-to-back battles on Friday and Saturday at the UC Courts.  Friday's contest is set for 4 pm while Saturday's match is scheduled for 1 pm.

The Lakers move to 3-6 overall on the season and return home to face Damien College on Saturday for a noon match at the Romney Tennis Courts.
