WATERFORD, Conn. (October 19, 2013) – Sophomore
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team finished first overall at the Connecticut College Invitational and set a new school record in the process. Stevens finished seventh as a team at the meet with 203 points.
Regan clocked a time of 21:29 on the 6K Harkness Memorial State Park course and topped the next closest runner in a field of 257 participants by five seconds. Regan bested her own school record of 22:07 set last season at the NCAA Division III Championship.
"Amy's school record run was probably her most impressive race to date. Not only because of the time, but also pulling off the individual win against a very strong field," said head coach
Justin Wood.
Tufts University won the team portion of the meet with 52 points, while Ohio Wesleyan University took second with 97 points. Brandeis University, Keene State College and SUNY New Paltz filled out the top five teams out of the 21 that competed.
Senior
Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) completed the race 34th individually in a time of 23:17, while freshman
Kathleen Kalbian (Cheshire, Conn.) was 43rd with a 23:34.

"The women have shown improvement each week in their fitness, race tactics and confidence. Today was no different resulting in our best team average of the year with 23:20 for 6K and personal bests for our top seven runners."
Sophomore
Janice Frontera (Sayreville, N.J.) finished the race in 24:39 for a personal best, while senior
Laura Lemke (Merrick, N.Y.) also posted a personal best time of 24:46.
Stevens will compete again on November 2 at the Empire 8 Conference Championship hosted by Ithaca College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Last fall, the Ducks finished fourth overall as a team for the second consecutive year.
