The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team was unable to hold an early lead as the Cardinals fell to the RIT Tigers 3-1 in a non-conference matchup, Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The Cardinals got on the board early, scoring in only the second minute of play.  Joel Castellini took the crossing pass from Matt Silvi and was able to find nylon as the ensuing header beat RIT's goalkeeper to give the Cardinals an early 1-0 advantage.

The lead would be short lived, however as the home team evened the score in the 15th minute on a crossing pass from the left side.

The Tigers would take the lead for good in the 24th minute as Jimmy Forbes corralled the pass and booted it by Fisher goalkeeper, Kyle Metcalfe.

RIT would add a third goal in the 31st minute to open up a 3-1 lead as the horn sounded for intermission.

The Cardinals looked to get back into the contest as the second half got underway, but Fisher was unable to break through RIT's defense, holding the visiting Cardinals to a single shot in the second frame.

Metcalfe had six saves, while Jesse Marano tallied the only other shot for the Cardinals.

With the loss, Fisher drops to 4-8-2, while RIT improves to 6-6-3 this season.

The Cardinals will return to conference play at 3 p.m. on Saturday as Fisher visits Stevens Institute of Technology.
