Buffalo State (4-4/2-3) scored three touchdowns in a span of one minute and 21 seconds in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 34-19 victory over host Utica (3-4/1-3) in an Empire 8 game today at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Shaq Frederick led the Bengals defense with 14 tackles, including 12 solo stops.
Utica quarterback Connor Butkiewicz was 27 of 49 for 232 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Ryan Burnett was the Pioneers leading rusher with 15 carries for 77 yards and touchdown.

Ithaca 25, St. John Fisher 22 (

The Ithaca College football team forced five turnovers and defeated 25th-ranked St. John Fisher 25-22 on Saturday at Butterfield Stadium. The victory was the 150th career coaching win for Ithaca head coach
Mike Welch, in his 20th season at the helm of the Bomber program. Ithaca improved to 6-1 on the season and is 4-1 in the Empire 8. St. John Fisher dropped to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the E8.
The Bombers built a 25-14 lead in the fourth quarter and withstood a comeback attempt by the Cardinals. The victory snapped Ithaca's seven-game losing streak to St. John Fisher. Ithaca had four field goals in the game and added touchdowns from
Ben Cary and
Evan Skea. It was the first-career touchdown for each of those players.
A defensively-oriented first half saw just three points scored through the first 29 minutes. Ithaca sophomore kicker
Max Rottenecker connected on a 35-yard field goal with 9:30 remaining in the second quarter. St. John Fisher drove for a go-ahead touchdown, covering 80 yards in nine plays in 1:41 and finished the drive with a 5-yard run from Cody Miller with 49 seconds left.

Alfred 32, Frostburg 7 (

The Alfred University football team piled up 259 rushing yards and scored two defensive touchdowns in a 32-7 victory at Empire 8 Conference foe Frostburg State Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons scored the game's first 22 points, holding Frostburg scoreless until 5:24 remained in the third. AU had 398 yards of offense and held Frostburg to 240, including a mere 85 passing, well below its 251-yard per game passing average coming in. With the win, Alfred's second straight, the Saxons improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 play.
AU opened the scoring on a 33-yard field goal by freshman Thomas Gioia, then added a pair of touchdowns on a 40-yard interception return by junior free safety Mike Perkins with 4:25 left in the opening frame and a seven-yard TD toss from freshman quarterback

Austin Dwyer. Both extra points failed and Alfred led 15-0 midway through the second quarter.
