E8 Cross Country runs at NYSCTC Meet

The Ithaca College women's cross country team secured its ninth consecutive runner-up finish at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday at the Hamilton College Golf Course. Ithaca, who finished second out of 11 teams with just 64 points, has placed in the top three for 16 straight years. Ithaca finished second to 18th-ranked St. Lawrence who won the meet with 34 points.

Sophomore Jaime Lisack (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) led the Bombers on the six-kilometer course. With a season-best time of 23:12.80, Lisack placed eighth out of 129 runners. Junior Carolyn Malone (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) followed with another season-best of 23:24.80 to finish 10th.

Juniors Alexa Rick (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria Catholic)Hannah Wright (Tamworth, N.H./Kennett) andEmily Smith (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) finished 14th, 15th and 17th with times of 23:27.70, 23:32.10 and 23:40.40.

Junior Meghan Cass (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) crossed the finish line 20th and sophomoreRachelle Sartori (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) 21st. They recorded times of 23:48.40 and 23:48.90.

Sophomore Gabrielle LeBihan led the way for Nazareth as she covered the 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 14 seconds to finish in ninth place overall. 

Senior Lauren Jamieson finished in 32nd place (24:32.0), followed by freshman Emily Thompson in 37th place (24:44.7); senior Lauren Heitzhaus in 38th place (24:49.1) and sophomore Blair Meeson in 42nd place (25:02.8). Juniors Michaela Gildemeyer (45th place, 25:10.3) and Kassandra Lathrop (56th place, 26:13.2) also competed.

Senior Katie Day (Whitesboro, NY /Whitesboro) and sophomore Ashton Villeneuve (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) recorded times of 23:25 placing 11th and 12th overall Saturday leading the Utica College women's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the 2013 NYSCTC Championships at Hamilton College. Villeneuve was named second-team all-conference.  UC registered an average team time of 24:39 totaling 167 points on the day.

Senior Jaimee Balloni (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) clocked a time of 25:06 placing 44th overall and third for UC while sophomore Sarah DePalma (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) finished 48th with a time of 25:21.  Classmate Samantha Bennett (Mexico, NY/Mexico) summed up the Pioneer scoring in 52nd place with a clock of 25:26.

St. John Fisher College finished seventh out of 11 teams at the NYSCTC Invitational. Anna Phillips was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line, placing 29th overall after posting a time of 24:23.7 in the 6k event.

Sammy Van Gee took 36th place with a time of 24:42.3, while teammate Nicole Graziadei wasn't far behind, finishing 39th at 24:53.0. Renee Deruchia crossed the line in 41st place as the junior completed the 6k in 25:01.9.  Sarah Coon earned a 47th place finish with a time of 25:17.1.

Alfred placed 10th led by freshman Mary Baughman (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was Alfred's top runner on the 6-kilometer course, finishing 34th in 24:39.40. Junior Tracie Forfrester (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth) was 53rd (25:57.30) and freshman Emily Poole (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) was 67th (28:02.70).
