Nazareth v St. Lawrence Results
Nazareth's women's swimming and diving team won an exciting meet Saturday as the Golden Flyers edged visiting St. Lawrence, 1485.-142.5 in a meet that came down to the last event.
Trailing 138-135 heading into the 200-meter freestyle relay, Nazareth improved to 2-0 overall as the foursome of freshmen

Emily Sauter won by nearly two seconds over St. Lawrence's top relay team to inch ahead for the victory. Nazareth also earned points in the race from the third-place team (1:58.00) of senior
Mallorie Dygert, junior
Emma Dorschel, sophomore
Renee Stromski and freshman
Shannon O'Malley.
In the women's meet, the relay was one of seven events that the Golden Flyers won. Freshman
Cameron Hess won both distance freestyle races. She took the 800 in 9:49.76 and the 400 in 4:48.79.
Other winners were Dorschel in the 200 freestyle (2:18.21); freshman
Autumn Hunter in the 100 backstroke (1:13.32) and freshman
Kaitlyn Hoag in 1-meter diving (180.40). Nazareth also won the 200-meter medley relay with the team of Hunter, Geary, senior
Karisa Kobel and sophomore
Nicole Charette.
Stevens v Saint Peter's Results
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team fell in a tightly contested dual-meet at NCAA Division I foe Saint Peter's Saturday afternoon. The Ducks were led by two wins from junior standout
Brittany Geyer.
This marked the second competition of the year for the Ducks, but the first that was scored, putting the Ducks at 0-1 on the year.
The Ducks opened the meet by taking second and third in the 200-yard medley relay. Sophomore

Jennifer Rutledge teamed for the No. 2 spot, turning in a time of 1:52.90.

Claire Hendershot went two-three in the 1,000-yard freestyle with time of 10:56.82 and 11:08.94, while
Danielle Caruso turned in possibly the swim of the day for the Ducks in the 200-yard freestyle. The rookie clocked a 1:56.75 and finished first.

April Lawson were second and third in the in the 50-yard freestyle (25.36, 25.76), with Geyer earning Stevens' second top-spot of the day in the 200-yard individual medley thanks to a 2:13.96.
Junior
Maria McClure pocketed a third with her 1:02.36 in the 100-yard butterfly to pace the Ducks in that event, and junior
April Lawson was second with a 100-yard freestyle (55.33). Rooker and Hendershot finished in second and third place in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:03.13 and 1:03.67, and Caruso carded a second place in the 500-yard freestyle, turning in a 5:13.27.
Geyer's second victory of the day came in the 100-yard breaststroke and sophomore
Elena Piper was third. The duo recorded times of 1:08.77 and 1:11.54, respectively.
In the final event, Rutledge, junior
Nicole Miller, Lawson and Caruso earned a win, finishing the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:42.48 and sending the Ducks home on a high note.
Hartwick v Quad Meet
The Hartwick women's swimming and diving teams hosted Cazenovia, Utica, and the College of St. Rose on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool. The Hawks came away with three victories to sweep the meet.
Hartwick won 157-39 over Cazenovia, 129-105 against the College of St. Rose, and 152-48 over Utica.
Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern Academy),
Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman), and
Kelsey Elliot (Cortland, NY/Homer) all won two races each. Mathias claimed victory in the 1000 (11:02.57) and 500 free (5:26.54). Rutligliano was a winner in the 200 IM (2:18.62) and the 100 back (1:04.92). Elliot won her first two collegiate races with wins in the 50 (25.73) and the 100 free (56.85).
Rachel Bellis (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) won her first ever event by placing first in the 200 free (2:03.64). Other winners included
Lindsay Bierwert (Leeds, MA/Northampton) in the 100 fly (1:04.07) and
Clare Nelson(South Hadley, MA/Guilderland) in the 100 breast (1:11.73).
The 200 medley quartet of Rutigliano, Nelson, Bierwert, and
Helen Merkley (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) won in a time of 1:57.59. The 200 free relay team of Elliot, Mathias,
Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL/Glenhard North), and Merkley was first with a final time of 1:45.80.
Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA/Inglemoor) was unchallenged in the one and three meter diving competitions. She put up a 217.75 score in the one meter and a score of 216.05 in the three meter.
Utica v Hartwick Quad Meet
The Utica College women's swim and dive teams opened up its 2013-2014 campaign Saturday in a quad meet hosted by Hartwick College at the Moyer Pool. Freshmen
Corrine Brouver (Pearland, TX/Glenda Dawson) and
Mikey Maxwell (Newport, NY/West Canada) guided the Pioneers as the duo combined for three victories in their collegiate debut.
Brouver recorded wins in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles against Cazenovia with times of 1:01 and 2:13. Maxwell posted a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a clock of 27.65 while placing second in the 100-yard behind Brouwer.
Utica fought hard versus Cazenovia however lost by a mere 11 points, 103-92, before going on to lose to St. Rose and Hartwick, convincingly, falling to 0-3 on opening weekend.
Ithaca at Rensselaer Results
The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2013-14 season with a 183-111 road victory over Rensselaer on Saturday at the RPI Alumni Sports and Recreation Center. The Bombers placed first in 11-of-16 events.
Ithaca opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Kylie Bangs(Westfield, N.J./Westfield),
Grace Ayer (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem),
Lyndsay Isaksen (East Setauket/Ward Melville) and
Megan Zart (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished in a time of 1:53.52. Bangs also took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:02.50. Ayer capped her day with wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.03) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.97). Isaksen earned another first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 25.97.
Heather Markus (Greenfield Center/Saratoga Springs) swept both diving events, taking the top spot in the 1-meter dive with a score of 238.45 and the 3-meter dive with a score of 255.25. Other event winners included
Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:09.10),
Megan Buisman (Rochester/Penfield) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.30)
Cassie Papaleo (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.34) and
Miranda Wingfield (Florence, Mass./Northamton) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.24).
