The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team took part in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event on October 19 at Genesee Valley Park.

The event had over 1,041 participants and raised nearly $156,000 including donations from members of the team to be put towards finding an eventual cure.

Each year there are nearly two million new cases of Diabetes each year.  It is estimated that as of today, there are 79 million people in the United States that could develop the disease.  The American Diabetes Associates (ADA) is committed to finding a cure and stamping out this terrible affliction.  Last year, the ADA held 120 different events throughout the country and raised over $24 million to be put towards bettering the lives of those stricken with Diabetes and new research aimed at eliminating the disease altogether.
