Ithaca Softball Team Raises Funds, Participates in Walkathon Benefitting Cancer Research
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team raised $1,700 for cancer research and competed in the 19th annual Walkathon & 5K Run in support of the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. The Bombers participated in the event that was held at Cass Park on Saturday, Oct. 26 for the 13th straight year.
A record $163,000 was raised during the event. There were over 900 participants and more than 100 volunteers involved. Several bands and performing groups were present to provide entertainment for all.
The Walkathon & 5K is the most important fundraising and outreach event of the year for the CRCFL. All of the money raised remains in the community to provide programs and services for people with cancer and those who love them.
