Houghton 1, Brockport 0 (Box Score)
The Houghton Field Hockey team earned a very exciting victory against the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport, beating them 1-0.

The Highlanders had just two shots-on-goal, both by Senior Maesa Phongsamouth. It was in the 12th minute of the second half when one of Phongsamouth's shots was accounted for as a goal. This success on a scoring opportunity turned out to be the winning goal for the Highlanders. Senior Marissa Meassick received the credit for assisting Phongsamouth's 11thgoal of the season; Meassick's 2nd assist of the season.

In the efforts of the Highlanders keeping the lead, there were numerous contributors on the defensive game. The Golden Eagles had 9 shot-on-goal opportunities, but were unsuccessful in all of them. Goalie Emily Thompson was responsible for 5 of the saves. The other failed attempts to score were a result of defensive saves by three Highlanders. Phongsamouth was responsible for 2 saves while both Kelsie Ashley and Hannah Zgrablich were responsible for 1 save each. Zgrablich's crucial save was made in the last minute of the game.

Head Coach Rachael Snelgrove shows great pride in her team's victory, "Our girls played a smart possession game today. They perfectly executed one of our corners, which lead to our winning goal. We had standout performances tonight including our keeper Emily Thompson who held strong in our defensive circle."

Skidmore 3, Hartwick 0
Despite trailing #14 Skidmore 1-0 at the half, the Hartwick field hockey team hung with the Thoroughbreds but ultimately fell by the score of 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Wright Stadium. The loss drops the Hawks to 5-12 while Skidmore improves to 14-3 on the season.

Skidmore was granted a penalty corner 1:03 into the game. The Thoroughbreds quickly got on the scoreboard just nine seconds later when Becca Halter tucked in a pass from Krista Lamoreaux into the left post to give Skidmore the early 1-0 lead.

Skidmore outshot the Hawks 9-2 in the first period but the 'Wick defense was firm as it prevented the Thoroughbreds from increasing their lead. Hartwick goalie Shannon Carter stopped five shots to keep the Hawks in the game.

The second half was a different story as Hartwick was held without a shot or a penalty corner. It was a still a 1-0 contest for over 15 minutes of the period until Lamereaux's goal at 50:23 gave Skidmore a 2-0 lead. The score remained 2-0 for nearly 16 minutes until 66:11 when Alex Hagney scored her fourth goal of the season to make it 3-0.

Steele-Norton's game-tying goal with 3:04 to go was assisted by junior classmate Alaina Stojkovski as the Pioneers forced an overtime frame.

Each goalie played well in overtime with UC's Kells Casey stopping four shots and Oneonta's Krista Servedio stopping two of her own in the extra time.
