Nazareth was victorious Saturday in a key Empire 8 Conference match in women's tennis as the Golden Flyers defeated Elmira, 7-2, at Mendon Racquet Club. Senior
Alison Tepas won matches at first singles and first doubles to reach 100 career victories. She ranks 10th all-time in career wins.
Nazareth improved to 5-4 overall, including 4-2 in conference play. Elmira dropped to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8.
The Golden Flyers got off to a good start by winning two of the three doubles matches with Tepas and freshman
Sara Kashtan taking a point at #1 with an 8-1 victory. Freshman
Jean McCarthy and sophomore
Ami Petosa won at third doubles 8-5.
In singles action, Tepas won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 over Elmira's Amy Schmidt and McCarthy, Petosa and junior
Adrienne Sharza also won in straight sets. At sixth singles, Nazareth also gained a point as senior
Krista Pagan won in a tiebreaker 3-6, 6-1, 10-4 over Elmira's Ellen Plowman.

Ayaka Yoshino accounted for both of EC's two points. In doubles play, the Soaring Eagles tallied a win at the second spot as Yoshino and partner
Danielle Levine '17 picked up an 8-4 win. The victory marks the duo's six straight win at the number two position. In singles, Yoshino was the only Soaring Eagles to tally a victory as she posted a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at the number two spot.
Alfred 9, Utica 0
The Alfred University women's tennis team earned its first Empire 8 Conference win of the year Saturday, blanking host Utica 9-0.
Alfred (4-8, 1-6 Empire 8) swept the singles matches, getting victories from junior
Brennan Ferguson, 8-4 in first singles; sophomore
Rachel Cook 8-6 in second singles; junior
Emily Eisenberg 6-1, 6-0 in third singles; freshman
Alexandra Smith, 6-0, 6-0 in fourth singles; and senior
Bethany Dickerson, 6-0, 6-4 in fifth singles; and senior
Alison Clemente, 6-3, 6-3 in sixth singles.

Hartwick 9, Wells 0
The Hartwick women's tennis team hosted its final home match of the season and went out winners with a 9-0 victory over Wells College on Saturday. The win gives Hartwick a record of 5-6 while the Express fall to 0-5.
The Hawks had little trouble with Wells in doubles play as Hartwick took all three matches with relative ease. In singles play, neither
Ruthie Jones in the first flight or
Kristen Napolitano in the fourth flight surrendered a point in 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Nicole Schepisi won in second singles, 6-0, 6-2 over Alysaa Acquaviva.
Playing in the final home match of her career,
Rebecca Clark won her sixth decision of the season with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Brooke Benedetto.
Lauren Noyes was victorious in fifth singles for the first time this year 6-1, 6-1 against Nicole Sanborn.
Caitlin Hawley claimed victory in her first collegiate match 6-1, 6-1 versus Courtney Grosser.
