Empire 8 women's cross country team traveled to Letchworth Park on Saturday to compete in the NCAA Pre-Regional meet. 

The 21st-ranked Ithaca College team raced to a seventh-place finish out of 18 teams followed by Utica (12), Nazareth (14) and St. John Fisher (15). Geneseo took the women's title with a total score of 55 points as they had five runners finish in the top 16 places. Laurentian was second with 99 points, and Vassar was third with 135 team points.

Junior Alexa Rick paced Ithaca with a 17th-place finish out of 268 runners in a season-best 22:45.70. Graduate student Jenn Randall crossed the finish line 41st in 23:25.20.

Ithaca's next four, all securing season-best 6K times, finished within six seconds of each other. Juniors Hannah Wright and Emily Smith clocked back-to-back finishes of 23:31.60 and 23:32.70 to place 46th and 47th, respectively. Sophomores Jaime Lisack and Rachelle Sartori earned finishes of 50th and 53rd with times of 23:35.80 and 23:37.20.

Sophomore standout Ashton Villeneuve led the Pioneers with another impressive performance finishing seventh overall.

Villeneuve clocked a time of 22:26 almost two minutes ahead of senior Katie Day who placed second for Utica with a time of 24:05.1.  Senior Jaimee Balloni trailed right behind with time of 24:05.8, finishing in 64th overall.  Sophomore's Samantha Bennett  and Sarah DePalma took fourth and fifth for UC with time of 24:50 and 24:59.

Sophomore Gabrielle LeBihan was the first Golden Flyer to finish in the women's 6-kilometer race. She finished 24th with a time of 22:57. 

Freshman Emily Thompson finished second for Nazareth in 57th-place with a time of 23:44. Following Thompson was graduate student Lauren Jamieson in 97th-place (24:26) and sophomore Blair Meeson in 154th-place (25:13). Junior Michaela Gildemeyer rounded out the Golden Flyers' top five in 171st with a time of 25:38. FreshmanJamie DiSalvo finished one place behind Gildemeyer with time of 25:39.

Fisher was paced by Anna Phillips who finished 65th in the 6k event with a time of 24:05.3.  Katlin Shippy was the second Cardinal to cross the finish line, placing 69th after posting a time of 24:09.9.  Abby Weaver finished in 76th position, while Sammy Van Gee took 89th place.
