Stevens Runs at Paul Short Invite, Regan Places 9th

RESULTS

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 5, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa. as part of a multi-divisional race. No team score was recorded at the meet.

Sophomore Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) placed ninth overall and first among NCAA Division III runners with a time of 21:42 on the 6K course. In all, 484 runners took part in the Invitational and Regan finished over one minute faster than the next closest DIII participant.

Regan broke the Stevens school record for 6K with her time of 21:42. Last year, her best time was 22:07 at NCAA DIII Cross Country Nationals where she placed 40th. She still remains unbeaten by DIII runners in head-to-head competition.

The women's team had their best race of the season with a team average for 1 – 5 of 23:48 for 6K. Their previous best average was 25:29 for 6K at the Ramapo College Invitational. 

"I'm happy with today's results and the direction that the women's program is heading. This group has continued to improve each time they race so I'm excited to see what we can do moving forward," said head coach Justin Wood.

Senior Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) clocked a time of 23:37, while freshman Kathleen Kalbian (Cheshire, Conn.) finished in 23:59. Sophomore Kate Moyer (Long Valley, N.J.) posted a time of 24:30.

Freshman Kaela Earrusso (Sparta, N.J.) completed the race is 25:21, while senior Laura Lemke (Merrick, N.Y.) was close behind in a time of 25:25.

Stevens competes again on October 19 in Waterford, Conn. at the Connecticut College Invitational.
