Fisher Wins ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship

The nationally ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team beat out the field, taking first place at the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship with a combined team score of 566 (-2) on Sunday.  The event was held at Blue Heron Hills Country Club in Macedon, N.Y.
 
After building a large lead in the first round of the event, No. 13 Fisher would continue to outplay the field as the Cardinals once again were under par as team in the final round of play.
 
Thad Wier was the top overall scorer as the East Aurora, N.Y. native finished the round five strokes under par and seven strokes under par overall. Teammate Chris Blyth took second place with a combined score of 139 (-3).  Joe Feeney rounded out the top three, firing a combined 142, good for even par.  Ryan McGinnis finished in a tie for fourth place, while Hogan Cuny held sole possession of seventh place. 
 
The Elmira College men's golf team finished the sixth with an overall score of 634. Junior Evan Clarke climbed up to eighth on the leaderboard after shooting a 73 on the second day to finish the two-day tournament with a 149.

Coming in next was Ryan Siffermann who penciled in a 77, once again tying his career best score, to finish with a two day total of 154 to place him tied for 16th overall. Following Siffermann was Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 who shot an 82 to finish with a 162, placing him tied for 30th. Bryce Hanson '14 and Kyle Hyde '14 both finished the second day with an 85 to card an overall score of 169 to place them tied for 36th.

Utica College carded a 376 in the final round to place eighth with a two-day scorecard of 726.

Junior captain Christian Leogrande led the Pioneers placing 42nd overall with a total of 171 shooting 87 on day one and following with an 84 on the final day.  Sophomore Ryan Stalker placed second for UC and 44th overall with a two-day scorecard of 175 as he carded scores of 86 and 89.  Sophomore Charles Coppola was tied in 25th place after day one as he struck an 80 but withdrew prior to Sunday's round due to an injury.
