October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual national wide campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

For the second year, the Empire 8 conference will be joining forces to raise awareness on their respective campuses and in the community behind the leadership of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Schools will be holding a variety of events including 50/50 raffles, selling pink ribbons and t-shirts, collecting donations at 'pink' athletic events and taking a chance to dunk coaches.
