Ithaca 2, Hamilton 0 (Box Score)
The Ithaca College men's soccer team (2-7-0, 1-0-0 E8) defeated Hamilton Tuesday evening, dropping the Continentals by a score of 2-0 at Carp Wood Field. Junior Brandon Glass and freshman Alex Leone scored for the Bombers.

Junior goalkeeper Jordan Gentile got the start, stopping both shots he faced in the opening half to earn the victory. Sophomore Kenny Chapman played the entire second stanza, making two saves on two shots.

Ithaca's first goal came in the 22nd minute, as Glass was awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box. The Hamilton goalkeeper made the initial save, but Glass collected his own rebound and cashed in for his first goal of the season.

After tight defensive play for the remainder of the contest, the Bombers collected a final insurance goal in the 89th minute to secure the win. Freshman Sean Forward avoided a Hamilton defender on the far side, eventually sending a pass across the box. Leone collected the pass and booted a shot into the open net for his first career goal. The win marks the Bombers' first non-conference victory of the season.

St. John Fisher 0, St. Lawrence 0 (Box Score)
The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team had an impressive defensive showing against 19th ranked Saint Lawrence University, earning a 0-0 tie Tuesday at Growney stadium.

With the tie Fisher moves to 3-6-2 overall and Saint Lawrence improves to 7-1-2.

The Saints created the majority of opportunities throughout the game, outshooting the Cardinals 21-7 but a cohesive defensive unit and strong play by goalkeeper Kyle Metcalfe helped keep a blank slate.

Despite being outshot 8-2 in the first half, Fisher had the best scoring opportunity in the 28th minute of play. Danny Yancone found the head of Joel Castellini on a cross from the right flank which he sent off the crossbar.

The second half was a defensive struggle throughout with just six total shots between both teams.  Metcalfe had back-to-back saves midway through the half stopping an initial St. Lawrence corner kick, then saving the second shot attempt.

The Saints generated several opportunities in both overtime periods.  In the first overtime Shane Breznachased down a streaking St. Lawrence attacker going in on goal with a slide tackle to crush the opportunity.  St. Lawrence finished both overtimes with an 8-1 shot advantage.

Metcalfe made 8 saves in net for the Cardinals, earning his fourth shutout of the year.

Scranton 1, Elmira 0 (Box Score)
The Elmira College men's soccer team stood toe-to-toe with arguably their strongest competitor thus far in the University of Scranton, but a goal by the Royals with just over six minutes to play enabled Scranton to edge out the Soaring Eagles 1-0. The win brings the Royals to 7-1-3 on the season while the loss drops EC to 4-6.

The first half was a defensive battle as the teams played to a 0-0 tie. Each team would have a few good looks on net, but the respective keepers kept the game scoreless.

The second half was much of the same style of play as the game remained scoreless well into the final 45 minutes. Each team began pressing for that tie-breaking goal, putting shot after shot towards the net. With just under seven minutes to play, Scranton won a free kick in their offensive half of the field. The ball was sent into the 18-yard box and a shot was fired at the goal. Nick Lapinski made the initial save, but he could not gain possession of the ball. The loose ball was then followed up by the Scranton player and blasted into the back of the net. Elmira kept pressuring over the final five-plus minutes to score the equalizer, but the Scranton defense held strong.

Hobart 6, Nazareth 2 (Box Score)
Hobart scored three goals in each half Tuesday at Nazareth to pull away for a 6-2 men's soccer victory over the Golden Flyers in a non-conference game.

Freshman Charlie Kelly scored three goals and added an assist for the Statesmen, who improved to 7-4-1 overall. Nazareth dropped its third straight and slipped to 4-7 overall.

In addition to Kelly, junior Bernard Abagali scored twice and added an assist and freshman Josh Vendetta also scored for the Statesmen, who never trailed. For Nazareth, freshmen Lucas Bennett and Alessio DeMichele each netted his first career goal.

Each team generated multiple scoring opportunities with Hobart also hitting the crossbar four times and Nazareth twice, including a chance by senior Scott Duarte less than 30 seconds into the game.

Abagali scored first in the fourth minute as he capitalized on a Nazareth defensive mistake to collect a loose ball for an unassisted tally. Bennett tied the score for Nazareth in the 18th minute as he converted a pass from senior Jason Renfro, who gained credit for his third assist of the season.

Kelly and Abagali each scored for Hobart before the first half ended and each assisted the other.

Nazareth closed to within 3-2 early in the second half as DeMichele scored following a scramble in front of Hobart keeper Mike Lucas.

Hobart then collected three more goals in a six-minute stretch. Vendetta and Kelly each scored unassisted, then Kelly added his third goal of the game and team-best ninth of the season for the Statesmen to complete the scoring.

Lucas was credited with one save in nearly 69 minutes of action for Hobart. Sophomore Tyler Serafine made two saves over the final 21 minutes. Junior J.P. Horan and freshman Nate Ripic each had three saves and surrendered three goals each for Nazareth.
