E8 2013 Women's Tennis Championship Field Set
The field has been set for the 2013 Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. Ithaca College earned the top seed and will host the E8's which take place Oct. 19-20.
Nazareth College, Elmira College and Stevens Institute of Techology each finished the regular season with a 5-2 conference record but based on the tie-breakers it was Nazareth who earned the No. 2 seed followed by No. 3 Elmira and No. 4 Stevens.
Tie-Breakers and Explanation
1.)
Head-to Head results: All three teams finished 1-1 amongst tied teams.
2.)
If three or more teams remain tied, total points earned vs. other tied teams: (Nazareth L 4-5 v Stevens and W 7-2 against Elmira for a total of 11 points. Stevens W 5-4 v Nazareth and L 3-5 v Elmira for a total of 8 points. Elmira W 5-3 against Stevens and L 2-7 v Elmira for a total of 7 points).
*Once a tie between three teams or more is broken, return to the 1st tiebreaker. Therefore Nazareth would earn the #2 seed as a result of the most points - Leaving Elmira and Stevens to return to head-to-head to results (Elmira beat Stevens 5-3). So Elmira would be the #3 seed and Stevens would be #4.
