Foglia Named to Preseason All-America Team
BLOOMINGTON, MN – Hartwick College senior
Maria Foglia (Rensselaer, NY/Catholic Central) has been named to the
D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America Fourth Team. The teams are chosen from last season's All-America and All-Region picks. Foglia is one of only 20 players nationally to be recognized on the four teams.
Foglia was a D3Hoops.com All-East Region selection, as well as the 2013 Empire Conference Player of the Year a season ago. She ranked in the top five in 10 categories in the Empire 8, leading the league in free throws made, games played, games started, and minutes played. She ranked second in three-point field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, points scored, and minutes per game, and was third in three-pointers made and fourth in assists.
She was the Hawks' top scorer in 13 games over the course of the season. She scored in double figures 13 times, and netted over 20 points on six occasions.
The twelfth player in Hartwick history to reach 1,000 points, Foglia ranks tenth on the Hawks' career scoring list with 1,120 points. She is only the third player to hit 50 or more three-pointers in a single season and the third player to make over 100 three-pointers in her career. She ranks third in three-point field goals with 112 in her three seasons at 'Wick.
Foglia and the Hawks won the ECAC Division III Women's Metro Championship last March, marking the first postseason championship for the Hawks since the 1999 season. She was tabbed the tournament's Most Valuable Player after averaging 18.3 points per game in three contests.
The 2013-14 season for the Hawks begins on Saturday, November 16 at the 34
