Hartwick Falls to Mount Saint Mary in ECAC Quarterfinal

NEWBURGH, NY- The #2 seeded and host Mount Saint Mary scored once in the first and second halves to come away with a 2-0 win over the #7 seeded Hartwick women's soccer team in the second quarterfinal of the ECAC Metro Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Kaplan Field. The Knights move on to the semifinals against #3 seed Kean University which defeated SUNY Old Westbury 5-0 in the early game.

The Hawks were held to just four shots while the Knights tallied 26 shots in the contest. Hartwick did manage to get three shots on goal but two were stopped by goalie Jacquelyn Mancini and the other was a team save.

The Knights attacked the Hartwick zone early in the first half as they registered five shots but 'Wick goalie Annie Millar (Illion, NY/Illion) turned away two of those shots, another two were blocked by the Hartwick defense, and other one went wide. The hosts did finally get on the board in the 29th minute. Marissa Segreto beat her defender to the right side of the net and pushed the ball past Millar and into the goal to give the Knights the 1-0 lead.

The Mount dominated the second half 16-2 in shots but the Hawks were able to hold their ground. The Knights had four shots deflect off of the crossbar and Millar was able to come up with four saves. Segretto would score her second goal of the game in the 87th minute to seal the game for the home team.

Millar ended the game with seven saves. Cristina Sicari (St. James, NY/Smithtown East), Jessica Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus Central), Allyson Daniels (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke Academy), and Kylie Thayer (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) had one shot each.

Hartwick ends its season with a final record of 8-8-3.
