Allocco and Rumsey Tabbed AVCA New York All-Region
AVCA All-Region Teams
Lexington, KY -- Nazareth College's Maria Allocco and Elmira College's Taryn Rumsey collected additional women's volleyball accolades today when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its Division III All-Region teams.
In addition to Allocco and Rumsey, Stevens Institute of Technology's Samantha Gates and Mary Tobin have been selected honorable mention.
Allocco leads the Golden Flyers with 81 blocks (0.62 per set) and ranks second in kills with 314. She also leads the Empire 8 and ranks sixth nationally with a .391 hitting percentage.
Rumsey, the Empire 8's kills leader, has had a phenomenal last season for the Soaring Eagles. Her 516 kills is a career high and is also the seventh most single-season kills in Elmira College history. She boasts the nation's ninth highest point per set average (5.0) and is 12th in the nation in kills per set (4.34).
Gates paced the Empire 8 with 1,168 assists in 117 sets played for an average of 9.98 helpers per set. She also ranked second in the conference with 68 aces and added 255 digs and 24 blocks.
Tobin led Stevens in points, points per set, kills and kills per set in 107 of the team's 123 sets played. She totaled 355 points, 3.32 points per set, 325 kills and 3.04 kills per set. Tobin began her Stevens career with double-digit kills in 16 of her first 17 matches and a total of 22 in her first campaign.
