AU men’s swimming diving falls at Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team dropped a 140-97 dual-meet decision to host SUNY Fredonia Friday evening.

Juniors David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) each had two wins for the Saxons (1-2). Coombes won the 200 freestyle (1:48.43) and 100 backstroke (55.42); Toth took the 200 individual medley (2:03.64) and 100 butterfly (54.99).

Senior Peter Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron) won the 100 freestyle (48.71) for the Saxons' other individual event win. Junior Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH) was second in the 1,650 freestyle (18:05.45) and 500 free (5:09.99), while junior David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port) was second in the 50 free (22.16).

The team of Luke, freshman Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), Coombes and Sowinski won the 200 free relay (1:28.17); Toth, seniors Terry Soto (Mt. Morris, NY/Mt. Morris) and Jake Giglio (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Luke took second in the 200 medley relay.

AU is in action next on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at home against Pitt-Bradford.
