Stevens into ECAC Mid-Atlantic Title Game After 3-1 Triumph Over Delaware Valley

UNION, N.J. (November 16, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team rolled into the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Championship game with a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley College Saturday at Kean University.
The second-seeded Ducks will battle Alvernia University – the tournament's eighth seed – Sunday at 11 a.m. for the crown.
The Ducks scored the game's first three goals en route to the win, ending the action with a 21-16 margin in shots. Each team took three penalty corners, with goalkeeper
Emily Stukenborg (Stockholm, N.J.) making seven saves to earn the win for the Ducks. The Stevens defense also recorded three defensive saves on the afternoon as senior back

Grace Ridge (Moorestown, N.J.) and sophomore back
Briana DeGraaf (Bayville, N.J.) all pocketed denials in the win for Stevens.
Stevens (14-7) went on top for good 11:58 in when sophomore midfielder
Dailyn Brook (Cherry Hill, N.J.) notched her 14th goal of the season from the left side, taking the ball all the way into the circle before the marker.
In the 19th minute, senior forward
Rachel Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) put Stevens on top 2-0 with her 10th of the year and second in as many games.
The two teams played scoreless hockey the rest of the opening period, with senior forward
Marguerite Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) tying Stevens' single-season record of 19 goals, driving home a rebound to close the scoring.
Stevens and Alvernia will square off for the ECAC Mid-Atlantic title at 11 a.m. Sunday. Last year, the Ducks won the ECAC Championship which was the first in program history.
