Men's and women's basketball opened their seasons over the past weekend as the football regular season came to an end. Those earning weekly honors are: 


Football Offensive Player  - St. John Fisher
Cody Miller, Senior, RB – Spencerport, NY/Spencerport
 
Cody Miller became the fourth running back in school history to eclipse the 3,000 yard mark after compiling 125 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College Cardinals defeated Alfred University 48-13. Miller scored two touchdowns in the second quarter as Fisher put up 41 points to set a new program record for most points scored in a single quarter. The senior back now has 15 touchdowns on the season.
 
Football Defensive Player – Salisbury
Greg Stanton, Senior, Safety – Damascus, MD/Damascus
 
Greg Stanton led a Salisbury defense that surrendered just 154 passing yards to Frostburg State on Friday night. Stanton finished with two interceptions, taking one back for a score and added five tackles (two solo) and another pass break up. He made his presence felt early, picking off a pass less than 10 minutes into the game and taking it 93 yards for the touchdown and added another pick, later in the first half.
 
Football Special Teams Player  - Hartwick
Tanner Williams, Sophomore, Returner – Eagle Bridge, NY/Hoosick Falls
 
Tanner Williams had four punt returns for 47 yards and averaged 11.8 yards per return in Hartwick's 21-10 victory over Utica. He also recovered an onside kick in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Hawks.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Hartwick
Brad Ranson, Senior – Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley
 
Brad Ranson was the winner of the 200 Freestyle (1:45.70), of the 50 Free (21.94) and the 100 Free (48.48) as well as a member of the winning 800 Freestyle Relay in a new Moyer Pool Record time of 7:14.54 (his lead off leg was a 1:46.47) on Saturday against Oneonta State. On Sunday, Brad won the 50 Free in 21.56, the 100 Free in 47.78 and a member of the 200 Free relay which won in a 1:28.41. Brad's anchor 50 relay split was a 21.01.
 
Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Utica
Cori Brouwer, Freshman – Pearland, TX/Glenda Dawson
 
Freshman Cori Brouwer continued her solid inaugural campaign Saturday at Cazenovia College with three wins despite losing, 145-125, to the host Wildcats. Brouwer posted wins in the 500 (6:00.28) and 1000-yard (12:22.40) freestyles as well as the 200-yard butterfly (2:54.27) to lead the Pioneers with 27 individual points. She was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay with an anchor leg time of 27:38.
 
Men’s Basketball Player – Nazareth
Brad Ford, Senior, Forward – Victor, NY/Victor
 
Brad Ford totaled 50 points and 23 rebounds in two games and was named tournament MVP as Nazareth defeated Sage and Fredonia over the weekend to win the BSG Tip-Off Tournament. He had game highs in points (23) and rebounds (13) in Friday's 83-64 win over Sage. In Saturday’s 92-62 romp over Fredonia he had a game-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Men’s Basketball Rookie - Hartwick
Joey Lufkin, Freshman Guard – Argyle, NJ/Argyle
 
Joey Lufkin had an impressive collegiate debut as he scored 19 points (7-of-12 shooting) and hit three of four of his three-point attempts to go along with three assists to lead the Hawks to a 89-73 victory over Ursinus on Friday. He topped that effort with 27 points and hit five three-pointers in a 76-75 loss to Messiah on Saturday. He also added four rebounds and three assists.
 
Women’s Basketball Player – Utica
Mary Miceli, Sophomore, Guard – New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle
 
Sophomore Mary Miceli netted a career-high 42 points Saturday as the Utica College women's basketball team dropped its season-opener by one point, 78-77, to SUNY Potsdam. Miceli hit 15-of-28 (.538) from the floor, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc to go along with five boards, two steals and two assists.
 
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Houghton
Hannah Manwaring, Guard – Barton, NY/Tioga
 
Hannah Manwaring averaged 10 points and five rebounds in her first two collegiate games as part of the Buffalo State Tournament. She netted seven points and grabbed three rebounds against Concordia College (MN) on Friday and followed that up with 13 points, seven rebounds verse Penn-State Harrisburg Saturday afternoon.
