Utica beats Caz; Alfred falls to RIT

Utica v Cazenovia Results
The Utica College men's swim and dive team downed Cazenovia College, 116-72, Friday evening at the Utica College Pool to extend its streak to six-straight over the Wildcats.


Alfred v RIT
Visiting RIT defeated the Alfred University men's swimming and diving team, 131-106, in a dual meet Friday evening at Lebohner Pool.

   The Saxons got two individual event wins from juniors David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), and senior Pete Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron). Coombes took the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.56) and 100-yard backstroke (55.85); Toth won the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.05) and 100-yard butterfly (55.29); and Sowinski won the 50-yard freestyle (21.81) and 100-yard free (49.04).

   Other top swimmers for AU (1-1) included junior David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port), second in the 50 free (22.79), and junior Joe Rogers (Dublin, NH), second in the 1,000-yard free (10:45.43) and 500 free (5:09.61).

   The team of Coombes, junior Jeff Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton), Toth and Luke won the 200 medley relay (1:41.91), while Luke, freshman Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), Rogers and Sowinski won the 200 free relay (1:29.06).
