Stevens Takes Thriller Over TCNJ; Ithaca Shines at Quad Meet
STEVENS Complete Results
The seventh-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team won the 400-yard freestyle relay by .11 to earn a 133-129 victory over ninth-ranked The College of New Jersey in front of a raucous crowd at the De Baun Aquatic Center.

Shawn Hanak erased a small deficit in the final event for the Ducks, out-touching TCNJ by a whisker to help Stevens (2-0) to a big win over its in-state rivals TCNJ. Senior

Wolinski won the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:43.87, edging out Noga in second and junior
Alex Xu in third. Sun's first win of the afternoon came in the 100-yard backstroke, as the second-year standout touched at 51.58, almost two seconds better than second place.
Lefeber and sophomore
Dane Pilcher went two-three in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.88, 1:02.30), as Hanak gave the Ducks their fourth victory of the afternoon when he won the 50-free with a 21.46.
After an intermission, Hanak and Wolinski placed second and third in the 100-free thanks to times of 47.42 and 47.46, respectively, while Sun and Noga went one-two in the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.46, 1:55.88).
Pilcher finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.48), Arnott did the same in the 500-free (4:51.69) and Young was second in the 100-yard butterfly (52.37).
Sun's third win was huge, taking the top-spot in the 200-yard IM with a 1:56.68, as was the second-place finish of Xu in the same event.
The final event of the day was the 400-free relay and the win gave the Ducks seven total and was enough for the program to earn its second win ever over the Lions.
ITHACA
The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team totaled three dual victories at a quad meet hosted by Hamilton Saturday afternoon. Ithaca defeated host Hamilton 209-89, outscored Hartwick 145-143 and beat Geneseo 194-106.
The Bombers earned their first of seven first-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
John Carr (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster),
Lucas Zelehowsky (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn),
Taylor Van Cott(Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) and
Zack Kundel (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem) earned the top spot, finishing in a time of 1:38.10.
Kundel and Carr also took part in the 400-yard freestyle relay, joining
Peter Knight (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt) and
Addison Hebert (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) on the top finishing team in a time of 3:12.20. Kundel capped his day with an individual first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, taking the top spot in a time of 21.58. Carr also earned an individual first place finish, completing the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.09.
Ithaca's
Matt Morrison (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) swept the diving events, earning a score of 311.30 in the 1-meter-dive and a score of 315.45 in the 3-meter dive.
Lucas Zelehowsky (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) also earned a victory for the Bombers, taking first with a time of 52.49 in the 100-yard butterfly.
UTICA
The Utica College men's swim and dive teams dropped their meet to Skidmore College Saturday afternoon at the UC pool. The UC men had their winning streak snapped as they fell 169-121.
Sophomore Raphael Warnon led the UC men with a hand in four first place finishes. Warnon won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.39, nearly three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. He also took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.87) and 200-IM (2:07.23). Warnon, also teamed up with Anthony Farber, Kaleb Bright, and Collin Hart to win the 200-yard Medley Relay.
Farber and freshman Chris Deyette led the Pioneer men to a one-two finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:07.63 and 1:07.72, respectively. Tyler Good also picked up a first-place finish with his time of 1:54.16 in the 200-yard freestyle.
HARTWICK
The Hartwick men's swimming and diving team participated in a quad meet with host Hamilton, Ithaca, and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon. The men picked up two wins on the day as they defeated the Continentals 190-98 and the Knights 186-108 but were narrowly defeated by the Bombers 145-143.
Luke Grunewald (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free Acad.) and
Jeremy Torres (Poulsbo, WA) both had a pair of victories to lead the men's team. Grunewald claimed wins in the 1000 free (9:55.81) and the 500 free (4:48.66). Torres had first place finishes in the 200 breast (2:10.64) and the 100 breast (59.98).
Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) touched the wall first in the 200 free in 1:45.58. He also added second place finishes in the 50 free (21.62) and the 100 free (48.26).
Ben Detar (Charleston, SC/Rocky River) won the 200 fly (1:56.78) and came in second in the 100 fly event (54.00).
Luis Santiesteban (Key Largo, FL) claimed victory in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:00.79. The 400 free relay team of Santiesteban,
Evan DeGidio (Jacksonville, FL/Episcopal School), Grunewald, and Ranson swam a time of 3:16.38 that put them in second place.
