AMHERST, Mass. – The thirteenth-ranked Ithaca College women's basketball team (3-1) suffered its first loss of the 2013-14 season Sunday at fifth-ranked Amherst (4-0). The Bombers dropped a 66-44 final to the Jeffs in the championship game of the Amherst Tip-Off Tournament.

Ithaca's lone lead of the contest was seven minutes into action when Francesca Cotrupe (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) converted an and-one play to give the Bombers a 9-8 edge. The host Jeffs answered with a 22-2 run good for a 30-11 gap at 6:47 of the first. Amherst went on to claim a 36-20 lead at halftime.

The Bombers crept within 13 at the five-minute mark of the second, 49-36, but that's as close as Ithaca would get. Amherst recorded 11 of the next 14 points en route to their fourth straight victory.

Senior Kathryn Campbell (Wall, N.J./Wall) led the Bombers with a 10-point, 4-steal performance. Classmate Jenn Escobido (Lisbon, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) and junior Ally Mnich (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) chipped in seven points each. Rookie Erin Ferguson (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) grabbed a team-high six rebounds in just 10 minutes on the floor.

Amherst shot 45.8 percent from the floor to the Bombers' 35.3 percent. Ithaca was just 6-for-15 from the free throw line.
