Ithaca and Nazareth Dominate in the Pool

The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team defeated the Cortland Red Dragons Saturday afternoon by a score of 177-123 at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. The victory improves the Bombers' record to 2-0 on the year.
Ithaca finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as
Megan Zart (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights),
Lauren Cox (Webster/Webster Thomas),
Erin Hackett (Lincoln Park, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and
Megan Buisman (Rochester/Penfield) earned the top spot with a finishing time of 3:44.76. Buisman also earned a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:01.67.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Lyndsay Isaksen (East Setauket/Ward Melville) finished in a time of 2:15.31 to earn the top spot. The Bombers also got first place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle from
Miranda Wingfield (Florence, Mass./Northamton) (5:18.74)) and the 200-yard backstroke from
Kylie Bangs (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (2:11.47).
Individual performances were highlighted by
Grace Ayer (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem), who finished first in both the 100-yard freestyle (54.61) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.36).
The Bombers swept both diving events.
Heather Markus (Greenfield Center/Saratoga Springs)finished first with a score of 228.80 in the 1-meter dive while
Emily Warfle (Owego/Owego) was awarded a score of 247.85 in the 3-meter dive.
Nazareth 151, Brockport 131
A first-place finish in the 400-yard free relay sealed another dual-meet victory Saturday for Nazareth's women's swimming and diving team. The visiting Golden Flyers defeated Brockport, 153-131, to improve to 3-0 this season.

Emily Sauter came through with a first-place finish with a time of 3:48.63, more than seven seconds ahead of Brockport.
Freshman
Cameron Hess also won two events for Nazareth -- the 1,000 free in 10:45.23 and the 500 free in 5:32.62. Other winners were Dorschel in the 200 free (2:05.73), Sauter in the 100 free (:55.52), Kobel in the 100 butterfly (1:04.82) and freshman
Kaitlyn Hoag in 3-meter diving (168.90).
Sophomore
Kimberly Pedrotti was second in three events -- the 1,000 free (11:20.25); the 200 breaststroke (2:37.01) and the 200 IM (2:24.07). Freshman
Elizabeth Carro was second in both backstroke events -- finishing 1:07.73 in the 100 and 2:24.16 in the 200. Sauter was second in the 50 freestyle (:25.59) and Hoag was second in 1-meter diving (165.80).
Freshman
Lillian Masters swam second in the 200 free (2:07.50) and third in the 500 free (5:40.88), while Dorschel was second in the 500 free (5:38.30).
Rochester, Hartwick
Hartwick hosted the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool and suffered its first loss of the season.
For the women, both
Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern) and
Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) touched the wall first in two events. Mathias was a winner in the 1000 free (10:56.53) and the 500 free (5:24.95) while Nelson claimed victories in the 100 breast (1:09.82) and the 200 breast (2:30.36).
Rachel Bellis (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) won the 200 free in a time of 2:02.20. Lindsey Bowker (Bothell, WA/Inglemoor) was the lone diver for either team and posted scores of 206.20 in the one meter diving event and 222.25 in the three meter event.
