Houghton Beats Alfred State on Senior Night
HOUGHTON, N.Y.-- The Houghton Volleyball team played their last home game of the season against the Pioneers of Alfred State College. The Highlanders swept the Pioneers 3-0 in tonight's match, allowing for Senior
Jaime Green (Port Huron, MI, New Life Christian) to end on a great note for her last game at Houghton's Nielsen Center.
"It was a very strong defensive game for us," stated Head Coach Nancy Cole. Cole's statement can be supported by 5 defensive contributors;
Laurel Wroblicky (Irvine, CA, Northwood) lead the way with 32 digs, while Green contributed with 18 digs and
Hannah Compeau (Oxford, MI, Faith Baptist) with 13 digs.
Meagan Palm (Lakeland, FL, Lakeland Christian) produced 7 blocks on the night, while
Hattie Burgher (Selkirk, NY, Loudonville Christian) produced 5 blocks.
Not only did Palm and Burgher have a strong defensive game, they had a strong offensive game as well. Burgher put away 13 kills while Palm put away 8 kills.
Even though it was Green's last home game of her Houghton Volleyball career, the Highlanders aren't done yet! The volleyball team will be back in action on Tuesday (11/12) at 7:00pm in N. Chili, N.Y. where they will take on the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan College.
