Marguerite Chavez and Hannah Mackey Named NFHCA All-Americans

Marguerite Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) and Utica College junior forward
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) have been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Americans. Chavez earned second-team All-America honors, while Mackey picked up third team accolades.
Chavez finished 2013 leading the team and conference in goals (19), assists (17) and points (55). Her 55 points are a single-season record and her 19 goals tie the single-season mark. She graduates as the all-time leader in points and assists and was eighth nationally in assists per game and 23rd in points per game. She scored at least one point in 18 of Stevens' 22 games, tallying three or more eight times and five or more four times. Five of her scores were game-winners as the Oceanport, N.J. native will depart from Stevens with 53 goals, 43 assists and 149 points and was a four-time all-conference honoree, including being named the 2013 Empire 8 Player of the Year.
Chavez helped Stevens to an Empire 8 regular-season title this year, an appearance in the conference semifinals and a berth in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Championship title game.
Mackey's 2013 campaign was her best yet as she collected a career-best 46 points including a career-high 19 goals. She finished first in the Empire 8 Conference in goals and second in points. She has earned All-Region status in each of her three seasons, including first team recognition the last two years. In the last three seasons, Utica is 28-5 when Mackey scores at least one goal. Her 119 points and 48 goals rank second all-time at UC.
The Pioneers wrapped up their season with an overall record of 17-5, en route to their second straight Empire 8 Conference Championship, automatic NCAA Tournament birth, and NCAA "sweet sixteen" appearance. UC also set new program records for wins (17), points (205), goals (77), and assists (49) in a season.
