E8 Athletes of the Week: Dec. 2
The Thanksgiving break limited action throughout the past week in E8 offerings, but those that did play showed very well on the hardwood.
Men’s Basketball Player – Elmira
Neil Randolph, Junior, Forward – Wicklow, Ireland/ Presentation
Neil Randolph led the Soaring Eagles to their third straight win of the year as Elmira defeated Oberlin, 73-71. Randolph scored a game-high 29 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including two made three pointers. He also went 10-for-10 from the free throw line. He scored six of Elmira's final nine points of the game, knocking down back-to-back free throws with three seconds left to seal a two point win for Elmira.
Men’s Basketball Rookie – Hartwick
Justin Pratt, Freshman, Forward – North Kingstown, RI/North Kingstown
Justin Pratt totaled 26 points in two games this weekend at the UR Holiday Inn/Airport Invitational. Against Mount Union, he shot 4-of-4 from the field and scored nine points in seven minutes of playing time in a 95-81 setback to the Purple Raiders. In the consolation game against Clarkson, Pratt was 6-of-11 in field goals and hit 5-of-10 of his three-point attempts as he scored a career-high 17 points in 20 minutes of game time in a 90-85 loss to the Golden Knights. He also added four rebounds.
Women’s Basketball Player – St. John Fisher
Camaryn Buckner, Senior, Forward – Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima
Camaryn Buckner helped lead the St. John Fisher College women's basketball team to a 2-1 record last week including a runner-up finish in the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational. Buckner scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds in an 84-50 win over John Jay. Buckner also scored 26 points and had nine rebounds and two blocks against Union College, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament team. Earlier in the week, Buckner posted a double-double in a 44-34 win over Medaille with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Stevens
Erica Guketlov, Freshman, Guard – Spotswood, NJ/Bishop George Ahr
Erica Guketlov helped the Ducks to a 2-0 record last week. She tallied a career-high 17 points, including 5-for-5 from three point range, and grabbed six rebounds in a 72-50 victory for Stevens at Centenary on Tuesday. Guketlov had three points, six boards and three assists in a 77-72 win against William Paterson on Saturday.
