The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team used a complete effort to drop Southern Maine 77-65 Sunday night in its first game of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament. Fisher was paced behind
Keegan Ryan's career-high 20 points.
Fisher improves to 4-4 overall with the win while Southern Maine falls to 5-6.
With the score tied at 52 midway through the second half, Fisher used an 8-0 run, fueled by back-to-back 3-pointers from
Adam Ambielli to take a 60-52 lead. Ambielli had 18 points, including shooting 5-for-7 from 3-point land.
The Huskies cut the Cardinals lead to 69-65 with just over two minutes remaining but Fisher closed out the game on a 12-0 run to seal the victory.
Fisher jumped out to a 10-4 early in the game following a Ryan free throw.
The Cardinals built their lead up to 18-10 at the 12:41 mark off a 3-pointer from
Tyler Hart. Southern Maine chipped away at Fisher's lead tying the game up at 26 with under five minutes to play. The Huskies led 32-20 at the half.
Chaz Lott chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists while Hart added nine points for Fisher.
Fisher is back in action at 3 p.m. tomorrow hosting Thomas College in its second game of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament.
