KISSIMMEE, FL.-- The Houghton men's soccer team had a devastating loss against the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University in day 1 of the NCCAA National Championships; Highlanders lost 2-1.

In tonight's game, Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) had 3 saves on the night; 2 in the first quarter and 1 in the second quarter. The Warriors, however, managed to score the first 2 goals of the game before the Highlanders were on the board. One of these goals was 20 minutes into the game and the other was 8 minutes into the second half.

The Highlanders were tied 9-9 with the Warriors in shots and ahead of the Warriors 6-5 in shots-on-goal. The numbers show potential for a strong offensive contribution.  However, one lone Houghton goal was all that was produced. Down 2-0 in the second half, Taylor Ross (Waldor, MD, La Plata) scored Houghton's lone goal with only 33 seconds left in the game.

Tomorrow, December 4th, the Highlanders will take on the Tigers of Campbellsville University at 7:00pm for day 2 of the NCCAA National Championships.
